Passiflora Press was started in 2014 by Thomas Avery Garran when he decided to self-publish his second book Western Herbs in Chinese Medicine: Methodology & Materia Medica. Later the journal South Facing was started but due to the demands of his studies and translation work that was put on the back burner. Thomas earned his PhD in Chinese herbal medicine from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in Beijing, China and the translation of Growing Chinese Herbs: Daodi Practices for Growing and Processing Chinese Herbs was published in late 2019. His current project is Duiyao: An Annotated version of the Qing Dynasty Classic De Pei Bencao, which he hopes to complete by the spring of 2023.
